COURSE SUMMARY
READING:
1. Being aware of various rhetorical patterns.
2. Building vocabulary.
2. Identifying main and implied ideas.
3. Separating fact from opinion.
4. Developing an awareness of reading skills.

LISTENING:
1.  Listening to lecture.
2.  Note-taking.
3.  Listening for main ideas and specific information.
4.  Getting meaning from context.
5.  Identifying stressed words and reductions.
6.  Identifying word families.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
To equip students to have the ability to understand high-intermediate written English and low-intermediate to intermediate spoken English.

Journal - 10%
Self-Study English Lab - 10%

MIDTERM/FINAL FORMAT
The tests will be divided into 5 parts:

1.  Listening Comprehension - 20%
2.  Grammar & Vocabulary    - 30%
3.  Cloze Test              - 20%
4.  Reading Comprehension   - 20%
5.  Short Questions         - 10% (usually 2 questions)

Midterm and Final Exam is usually held on Wednesdays
