Internal Environment
In assessing the interior of a house, you need to pay special attention to the shape of the house, the floor plan, and the interior decoration.

Three things you should look at for: stability, balance, adn smoothness.  A house with these three characteristics is said to bring harmony, health, prosperity, and good luck.
Stability

A house with stable shape is one held up in a sturdy way and none of the levels are significantly larger than others.  Houses built on stilts are said to have bad Feng Shui due to their lack of stability.

Building shown on the image to the left is built on stilt with the cars parked underneath.  This building, according to Feng Shui theory, is not a good place to live in due to its lack of support.  Further, the cars being parked underneath, brings misfortune to the residence.
Balance

A house is thought to be balanced if it does not have an irregular shape.  Always follow the "four-point gold" rule.

The floor plan shown to the right is what is described as "irregular" shaped floor plan.  Notice the bedroom also have doors facing each other.

The floor plan below is a better floor plan because it's square and therefore have balance.  There is a big opening or a "bright hall" and the kitchen is located in the back of the house.  It is also important to note that the stairs does not directly face the front door.
Smoothness

The smoothness of a house is determined by an absence of harsh portruding structures, including rooms jutting out from the upper floors, steep triangular roofs, cap dormers, and tall towers and chimneys.

Small alcoves, bay windows, and enclosed window planters are excluded, because they are not big enough to make a difference.

An image below shows a room with portruding walls and irregular shaped ceiling.
