Matching Occupants to a House

In Feng Shui philosophy, each person is believed to have a gurdian star based on their date of birth. It is said that when this guardian star and its element are nourised, we will enjoy good health and good fortune. However, when our guardian star is weakened, the opposite occurs. To determine your guardian star, use the table below:

To determine your guardian star, look for your year of birth under your gender. If you were born in the month of January, however, you will have to use the previous year unless your birthday in January falls on the Chinese New Year during that year. In learning how to match individuals to a house, you need to be familiar with the five elements and their cycles.

Once you have identified the guardian star and element of the members in your family, you are ready to match each of them to a house. The first person you need to consider is the head of the household or the breadwinner. Because the breadwinner is the main source of support, you need to make sure that the front door is situated in the area where their guardian star element is located. For example, my husband's guardian star is Seven Red, Metal and mine is Two Black, Earth. Our house chart shows that the Eight White, Earth is located at the entrance of the house. This means that the relationship with my gurdian element and the element of the Earth Base at the door has no effect. Although my career will not have obstacles, it will not be very prosperous. My husband, however will do much better since his guardian star is seven red metal. If you look at the table below, it shows that earth nourishes metal.

Occupants and Bedrooms

What follows are important points to remember when assigning rooms to each member of your family:

1. Rooms with very inauspicious stars, such as Earth Base and Facing Star combinations of 2-Black and 5-Yellow and the stars of fire hazards 2-7 and 9-7 should not be used as bedrooms at all.

2. The bedroom should not be located in an area with the combination 7-9 which indicates severe illness.

3. It is important to find a house with the bedrooms with either neutral or auspicious star combinations.

4. A room with a combination 6-9 should not be assigned to the eldest in the household, since the stars brings illness for the eldest person.

5. Rooms with the combinations 2-3 and 3-2 should not be assigned as bedrooms, because these combinations contribute to quarrels.

See table below to determine your auspicious (green) and inauspicious (red) directions. It is very important that you choose a room located in one of your auspicious directions.
